New Brassavola nodosa is dropping leafs.

I recently purchased a Brassavola nodosa "minnie mouse" about a week ago and over this time it has dropped about 5 of its leaves; most of which were newer, younger leaves. They shrivel up and turn purple from the bottom up and you can easily pull them out. The roots that were growing are now slowing and the tip has stopped growing on many. I am hoping that this is just a temporary adjustment to its new environment, but I'm not sure. It is sitting in a south facing window growing in a large rock medium that retains virtually no water, so I water about once every 2-3 days. Does this sound like a normal thing that new Brassavola nodosa's go through? I've never had one before, so I'm not really sure what to expect.

Looking forward to answers on the culture of this plant - I've had one on a cork mount for maybe 3 or 4 years.

Growing high in the greenhouse, but was in a shadier spot until recently. I've never seen it bloom, so finally decided to put it where it will receive the brightest light I can get it.

Take my advice for what its worth - never seen a bloom, but mine appears fairly healthy. On leaf loss - I'd be concerned about root loss and overwatering - and start to err on the drier side - maybe 1 time a week. I water about that often - and mine is on a mount, though I've upped it since I've moved it to higher light. You might pop it out of those rocks and check the roots for root rot.
Those succulent leaves store a lot of water, the roots do also..
