Hi folks,

first Paph is Pinocchio and second one is Paph Transvaal.
Both were almost "destroyed" last year with hard water (>800 µS) and dried substrate.

The problem now is that they will not produce any new roots and the old ones are nearly all rotten. What can I do to help them or are they lost?
I've tried spaghnum and a bark mix, temperatures around 25° C (77° F) and humidity of 60%, but nothing happens except that leaves become yellow and brown after some time.

About the only things I can suggest are the application of rooting hormones and keeping them in a saturated humidity atmosphere.

Sometimes paphs just give up and don't try to grow new roots.

by the looks of the first one i think he's about to commit suicide on ya (though i never give up til they're brown and dead ). the second one looks like he still has a chance. ive found with paphs that when they have root problems drier media is a bit better than wetter. as long as its humid they're start some new roots that will 'seek out' a water source. when its overly damp they go to mush before they have a chance. i killed a couple divisions of paph edith winn to learn that one, so i would nix the sphagnum moss. i would do what ray suggested. rooting hormones, bump up the humidity, and would def keep them warm. ive had some pretty good luck rescuing them in a propagator on a seedling heat mat. give it a whirl.
