Biggest EU Online Orchid Nursery?
Hi,
I have a wishlist of about 10 orchids that I plan to order online soon to bolster my collection as there's nothing but phalaenopsis available in shops in the UK Postage is really expensive, it's always about £20 so I'd like to order everything from one place to reduce the costs.
So far I have found most of the stuff on my list, mostly paphs, catts and oncidium alliance (bar miltoniopsis and a couple of paphs) in two nurseries, Wichmann and Orchid Garden Poland, but ideally I'd like to find everything in one place to make things easier and cheaper. Anyone know which is the biggest nursery in the EU? I have tried searching but so far no luck
Thanks!

Being the biggest might not mean they stock the orchids you are looking for. I've ordered from Orchid Garden Poland and the plants have been good. I also like Orchideen Lucke, Schwerter and Elsner, but whether they have what you're looking for is another question.
Are you a member of an orchid society, where you could pool orders and split postage costs?

I'm not sure you'll find everything in one place, even at the big nurseries. It really depends on what you want, and how rare those particular plants are. Large nurseries I shop at are Schwerter, Elnser, and Lucke, as listed above. You can also try Akerne in Belgium, though they have a smaller selection. Schwerter does have a lot of stuff not listed on their website, so emailing them to enquire about a plant is a good idea as well.
What are you looking for?

I am not, unfortunately, but that sounds like a great idea, perhaps I should join the local society and try that!
I am looking for quite a long list, the main thing I am having trouble with is miltoniopsis, I cannot find them anywhere!

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately those aren't quite what I'm looking for. I actually saw all those websites when I went through the EU nursery list but I'm interested in the huge ones which look like giant pansies. Sadly the only place where I've seen them for sale is secret garden, Romania, and it appears they only ship within Romania :'(

I just realised the miltoniopsis phalaenopsis was on the list and that is one of the pansy like ones but I prefer the versions with more colour and less white. I just love bright colourful flowers

For the big pansy-like Miltoniopsis, I think your best bet is to look for them in garden centers, or at local orchid shows (unless you really want a named plant). Those are the only places that I regularly see them, with the highest frequency being in the spring, usually around Easter. It also doesn't help that they're often incorrectly called Miltonia...
Another thought, I've visited a few nurseries, and they generally have a selection of the run of the mill unnamed hybrids you can generally find in supermarkets and such. They won't put these on their websites since those plants are more targeted to the walk in customers (for impulse buys of blooming plants). If there is a vendor who has all the other plants you want, it could be an idea to email and ask if they have any miltoniopsis.

Unfortunately the local garden centre and shops only stock phals, there's an orchid show nearby coming up in a few months so I'll keep an eye out there but I only have one show near me per year, even this one doesn't entirely classify as local, it's in the next town. What a shame, I really love the look of miltoniopsis and would love to try my hand at the challenge of keeping them alive
