I thought I had killed my Dove orchid after 5 years of trying.
It lost all these leaves so I put it in the barn to let it die. It was cold and very sunny in the barn and I didn't water it. When I looked at it a few month later it had grown a huge spike. I was so surprised and excited. Now buds are formed and I hope I won't kill it this time....I keep the soil moist and I hope I am doing the right thing.
Does any of you have suggestion about taking care of it?
Thank you. I would appreciate your help.

I don't grow this, so I'm no help at all, but I suggest you keep notes on what you did, including which shelf in the barn you put the plant on, so you can do the same thing next year. That is one happy plant! Good job!!!

Thank you Fishmom, I will definitely follow what I have done this year to make sure this plant flowers again. Ex: Keep is cool and dry during the winter months. Thank you for responding.

Use the Search function in the top maroon menu and search on the name. There are quite a few posts here on Orchid Board. The main trick to getting these to bloom is a dry winter, which is what you did.

How exciting! It is growing in a barn in France! And my plant is outside my fire escape in a Manhattan apartment this summer. This orchid plant can grow big. I have transplanted lately to a 12 inch pot. Please go to my posting and you can learn how I take care of it.
