Phal. "Sweet Memory" Female
Default Phal. "Sweet Memory"

Is this type of phal supposed to have light green leaves?
I was just wondering if this is normal. Its leaves appear a lighter green than my other phals. Is this normal? I have been unable to find a picture of just the leaves of this plant for comparison. If you have one, please share.

Default Leaf comparison

This is a photo of leaf color comparison. The bottom orchid is a Phal violacea and the 2 above are Phal hybrids ..
My Phal hybrids have species in their lineage but are further removed than my Phal. violacea cross.
Your Phal 'Sweet Memory' has Phal violacea as one of it's parents.
Many phal species leaves are 'granny apple' green in color.
The same green color is apparent on a leaf that is growing and is most apparent closest to the crown ( or where the leaves meet in the center)
No worries

Thank you for posting that picture, Dorothy. The one that I was asking about seems to have slightly lighter green leaves than yours, but it is a younger plant with shorter leaves. So, I guess it is normal for it to have lighter leaves for a mature plant?

Yes, it can have lighter leaves and that photo was taken in very low light so the leaves are lighter in color in real life than in that photo ..
Again .. no worries for your phal

My Sweet Memory has very light green leaves. I think this is normal for this plant. Dorothy, it also has the strongest fragrance I've ever smelled in a Phal - you need to get one!

My "Sweet Memory" phal was just shipped from Parkside Orchids in PA a few days ago. Although it was not marked on their website as in spike or in bud, I was very pleasantly surprised that the plant already has a spike with buds. They did a very professional job shipping my plants, too.

Your phal looks happy and healthy
If the condition of your air is very very dry .. you can (if you wish to) top the medium with sphag moss and keep it moist to keep the aerial roots from drying out .. again.. only if the air surrounding your phal is extremely dry .. I have found it helps my species phals .. my hybrids are fine without it .. Just my
