Phal is loose and raised in the plastic inner pot Male
Default Phal is loose and raised in the plastic inner pot

Hi everyone, sorry to keep asking silly questions. I just really want to get this right.

My phal has become loose in the inner plastic pot so when I remove it from the decorative pot to water it or check the roots, half of the roots are coming out before I can grab the rim of the inner plastic pot. I've attached pics if that doesn't make sense.

Now the roots are quite raised and I can't get it to go down in the pot any deeper and I don't want to force it as I'll damage it..

Will it be OK to stay like this with so many roots exposed? Or should I repot it or something?

P.s. Sorry for sideways photos, not sure why it keeps doing that..

Thanks

Kev.

The pot looked like the type you would get from the breeder. I don't see any roots in the lower half of the pot. How long have you had the plant? It looks like this might be a good time to repot this plant. Are you familiar with repotting Phals.?

Definitely time to repot. I suggest small bark, in a well-drained pot (only slightly larger than the one that it was in... orchids like "tight shoes" ... overpotting lets them stay too wet, which they hate.

Thank you both. I've only had it for 2 months as it was a gift. I'm a total newbie so I've never had to repot before. I've watched a load of videos so hopefully it'll be OK.
