Keikis are blooming
Default Keikis are blooming

Hi everyone, I'm a relatively new orchid owner, having been gifted a Phalaenopsis for Mothers Day a couple of years ago. All was going well, and mostly still is. My Phal grew not one but two keikis, and instead of also growing roots, they put out flower spikes which bloomed in the last month. I'm a little nonplussed, and not sure what to do once the blooms die off. Neither keiki has any roots. Do I clip the flower spikes? Leave them on? Is this normal?

Its different but, not unheard of. You can clip the flower spikes above the keikis but, not below as they are feeding the keikis. When they have a few inches of roots, you can detach them and pot them up and you will have more of a very pretty plant.

And, Welcome to the OB.
