Orchid ownership going up?

Hi everyone,

Apologies if this isn't the right forum to ask this question, but I'm wondering if you know of articles that have evidence that orchid ownership has spiked in recent years (or has it?). I thought this was self-evident, but I'm not finding anything to back it up.

Just curious, what makes you think more people have orchids?

I think the only data that would tell you that is the sales data from commercial or the small specialized nurseries, but I don't see how you can get that information.

Camille is correct; the data is about sales, which is mostly pointing to those plants sold more as decorations to be thrown away, than itnis about collectors.

Trade organizations and the US Dept of Commerce collect the data.
