Need help with Dendrobium watering-image-jpgHello! I am new to the hobby and need some help with this dendrobium I have. I believe it is a hard cane (if anyone knows exactly what it is please let me know). I got it from the store and it looked great and when I got it home I thought it might have a very mild scale infection? So I have had it quarantined and under arifficial led full spectrum light. Anyway I think it is drying out too quickly but I can’t tell. Should I be watering this plant everyday? And does it look healthy?Need help with Dendrobium watering-image-jpg

It looks like a den Phal or perhaps (a stretch) lautoria type. In any case, I water my plants 3x a week. These require frequent watering in the growing season, and shouldn't dry out. Water thoroughly, lift the pot, notice the weight. Lift every day until it feels light, then water again. They require good light, so unless it looks sunburned or bleached it should be ok. There is no such thing as a mild case if scale. Buy some Bayer three in One and treat it.

When the center of the medium is dry, it is an indication to water it. You can also use the skewer method.
