A couple of times when I purchased on eBay, the vendor made honest mistakes, or something went wrong, and the vendor was extremely conscientious about correcting things and making sure I was happy. eBay sellers live and die by their reputation (feedback) and one bad response can really hurt their sales. Having said that, I have kept comparing what you get on eBay to what you get from a known high quality vendor, and I have come to the conclusion that it is much better to go to the orchid vendor. Quality is better and eBay prices tend not to be bargains, at least in my experience. I like to troll through eBay and sometimes discover something new, but if it is of interest I will hunt for it at an orchid vendor.

I bought some orchids on ebay before and had no problems. Right now, I prefer buying from local shops like Orchid Republic in Sherman Oaks because I can see what I am buying and ask for some advice/tips.

I have always bought plants internert, not only orchids and I have had 90% satisfaction but I go directly to the nursery sale, this is more economical and with better results in every way. Greetings.

Mobelle - Sherman Oaks? Southern California, also lots of opportunities to get orchids in person at shows, not all that distant (especially on weekends) Today and tomorrow at South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes. Week after next, South Coast Plaza Village on the border between Santa Ana and Costa Mesa, Fascination of Orchids. Couple of weeks after that at the Huntington Library and Botanic Gardens. In the southern California area, here's a calendar of orchid events:Orchid Events Pretty much everywhere that there are orchid clubs, this is fall show season. At such places you can get a much wider variety of plants than you can at a flower shop.

Yes, in Southern California. I'm not familiar with Fascination of Orchids but thank you for the info. Sounds like it is a nice event. I will try to go there.
