, Thank you all for your responses. I understand why she doesn't show herself, I would keep my identity private also. As for the information she gives, like the rest of you, her conditions are different from mine. The information is helpful but I agree that the Orchid Board is much more informative (for me that is). I can also ask questions that are presenting them selves in the moment and get answers very fast. I will still watch videos by her and others that will help me keep my orchids happy and healthy. I will have to read up about hydrogen peroxide (3% H2O2) for crown rot....Zoren...

I avoid watching such videos because the posters often seem to claim they are experts sharing factual info, but are instead sharing their opinions, some of which I know are not correct, or at least not universally correct.

One recent example can be found in several posts here, in which you tube videos had people convinced their plants had fusarium, when it was far more likely normal pigmentation.

I guess the bottom line is that EVERYTHING you read or view MUST be taken with a large grain of salt and evaluated in terms of your growing conditions andn watering habits.

When I give advice, I try to provide the "why" in addition to the "what", so it give folks the factual basis upon which to make such judgements. Sometimes folks think it's too technical, but I guess they are not really interested in learning, but just want to be told what to do (which will fail...).

Well, there's this, which makes it appear that she joined the OB back in 2013. I guess we have no way of knowing if it's legit or not.

Hello from Romania!

She also appears to be associated with a particular website. There is lots of care and culture information there, along with links to her YouTube videos. There is a tab that says "Orchid Store," but if you click it, it says it's temporarily unavailable. There's also a tab to donate money to her.

Orchid Nature - Orchid Care, Identification, Care Sheets & Forums

I have watched some of her videos occasionally, but as others have mentioned, I take everything with a grain of salt, for a few reasons, like the fact that she lives in a totally different part of the world than I do and grows her orchids in a different type of climate/environment. I also do not believe she has the many, many years -- or decades -- of experience that some of our members here on the OB have. I agree that her advice is best suited to beginner-to-intermediate growers. But I do find her pleasant to listen to and I enjoy seeing the many different types of orchids she has. Her videos are a nice way to pass some time when I have done everything I can with my own small collection and just need an orchid fix.

this is ms princess widdie kitty here, and today we will talk about
SETTING YOUR ORCHIDS FREE!

ATTACH]133924[/ATTACH]

I find that if my human accidentally puts an orchid in the wrong place, it needs to be set free! by pushing the orchid with my dainty little paw, to the very edge of a table, it will FLY to the floor and release itself in the confines of the greenhouse!

sometimes, with my artistic abilities and secret widdie powers, I can catch the flying orchid with my sharp teeth, and prune it as needed....

i am a very helpful and clever kitty! stay tuned for more orchid growing advice!

I prefer to get my information from the vendors who specialize in growing the orchid or from members of my orchid society who I know have grown the type of orchids for many years.

Being able to get help with a new orchid is one of the advantages of buying orchids from a vendor who grows and shows the orchids or has a long history with the orchid.

I'm not sure that's her... unless she moved? She has said many times in her videos that she is from Nicosia, Cyprus.

I've been living with a brilliant engineering minded man for 35+ years. Some minds work relationally, some technically. It's not that we don't want information, we want enough facts to make an intelligent decision. When we press for that amount of information, or ask for a little less, it's said we don't care. That's simply not true. I do not need to have fight over the technical term for stucco, when I have admired the new stucco on a motel.

No one cares that I graduated with honors unless they know I care. To quote an ancient Book, " Knowledge puffs up, love builds up." I respect the knowledge here but if my relationally wired mind is overwhelmed it does me no good.

I apologize for hijacking this thread. I used to watch Miss Orchid girl, but the OB is far better!

I have a dog that holds similar beliefs. Instead of pruning an orchid, though, she shreds them and the rarer the orchid, the better.... (fortunately, I can keep them all out of her reach).
