Lowe's has a decent orchid selection sometimes in the houseplant section. You'll see them in small pots with mesh or plastic bags around the whole plant. Cattleyas almost all the time, maybe a dendrobium or two, in addition to healthy moth orchids.
They also put orchids on the discount rack once the flowers are gone. Sometimes the orchids on the discount rack (located outside with the outdoor plants) are in bad shape, either already sick or due to being put in full sunlight, but you can frequently get a decent one. Check for healthy roots. If it has four or five healthy roots at least, repotting it into a good, not-saturated mix will easily save it.
