Not sure whether / where to cut a blooming orchid

Hello all! I am very, VERY new to orchids. Well maybe not new, because my only orchid is already 3 years old, but clueless.

After 2 years dormant, I finally began researching how to trim and repot my orchid to see if it would ever bloom again. Just when I was planning on trimming I went to take a look at it and voila, it has new buds.

Now I'd like to trim it because these new buds are in the middle of the stalks, and the top of the stalks are drying out. It's a little lopsided and unsightly. But I've read that it's not good to trim an orchid when it is in the process of blooming. I don't want to trim it right at the worst time and have all the buds fall off!

I also have a broken leaf that I don't know what I can do with, if anything.

TLDR; Take a look at the attached pics and let me know if and where exactly I should be trimming these stalks.

Simply snip off the yellowing part above that branch.

And leave the broken leaf - it is firmly attached, healthy and green, and contributing to the plant. When Phalaenopsis leaves are done they will drop naturally. This one will be there for awhile.

I have a phal that does just that. It throws double spikes every year, and before it's time for those two spikes to go by, it'll grow a couple more branches lower down on the spikes. These newer spikes are shorter, and there's usually only 3 or 4 buds on them.
The year before last when it was doing this, I had thought I'd leave them and let them open, and as yours is doing, the upper part of the main spike was browning. But I realized that I'd end up with so few flowers on odd looking spikes, and, was of the mind that if I left them on, it might affect the spike timing come November.
I now plan on removing the entire spike once the original blooms go by, because I have a greater number of blooms as a result. Maybe it's unrelated, but in my tiny mind...
