HELP!! Vanilla Planifolia Leaf Probs!

I recently bought some vanilla seedlings and have set them in my sun room in indirect sunlight, I am misting them twice a day and have them in an orchid medium with some normal potting material to preserve some moisture, I have them on a stick trellis I found outside (lol), the leaves are cracking horizontally and I am worried that my plants will die, I am attempting to raise their humidity more than before but I would love for at least one of my vines to survive

Is it getting knocked around by something? That leaf break looks like it hit something or something hit it.

Were they deflasked recently? They look like they might be tied too tightly to the stick trellis, I don't know.

Pots also look ginormous for the plants. I recommend much smaller pots.

That leaf damage is not going to kill the plants as far as I know.

Not getting knocked, they are also cuttings from a much larger vine. I can agree they are a little tight and I will loosen them up a little later today. the pots are huge because I really do not have anything to accommodate them, I was thinking a water bottle with some holes at the bottom but I can't be sure.

Bottles with holes can work. You can also fill up pots with styrofoam peanuts on the bottom if there is too much empty space.

Seedlings of any orchid aren't as tolerant of drying out as bigger plants.

Are your plants just out of the flask, or had they been grown in community pots before you got them? This is an important thing to know.

Do your vanillas have any living roots? One root may emerge from the stem almost opposite where a leaf attaches. Living roots are thickish, white to grey and spongy. Dead roots are thin and wiry.

Something that works for most orchid seedlings is to just lay them on the surface of barely damp sphagnum moss, and put them into a transparent or semi-transparent plastic box.

They're cuttings. He mentioned it.

Vanilla don't generally produce a lot of roots. They're kinda an odd man out group of orchids.

Yea, sorry about the miscommunication, they are approx 3-5 inch cuttings from a significantly larger plant. I am misting them twice a day with a mixture that should retain a little but of moisture. I also moved them to a smaller contained with holes in the bottom and am planning on fertilizing them. I have roots but like vanillas do they are aerials and very annoying, I came to the conclusion to put them under the soil because that is where roots go to get nutrients . I am just worried about the horizontal cracking. If it were vertical then oh well but horizontal is cutting off all production from the plant itself and I am just worried for their health.

I did move the cuttings to smaller water bottles with holes in the side, one of them is 100% dead/dying but the others seem to be having some growth now, not a lot but I'm seeing some new potential leaves which is a good sign, I am keeping them very moist even though we have been having T-storms the past couple days which has raised the humidity significantly. I do believe something is going right, now to the issue of fertilization, how should I do it without burning the roots?

There is a huge amount of fertilizing information, and a fertilizer dose calculator, in the Free Information section of the First Rays Web site. The concentration you use depends on how often you fertilize.
