Multicolered leaf..help..
Default Multicolered leaf..help..

One of my phal have a leaf that is multicolored and another leaf has a couple brown spots. Can somebody help me figure this out? And what to do about it?

I am in upstate New York and keep my heat at 76° (because I'm always freezing). So it is very dry in my house. I do have each one on a humidity tray though. I have tried to attach pictures. Hopefully I did it right.

I'm a newbie even tho I have 8 phal, I have treated them like house plants really, until I found this website. I have had them all rebloom so i assumed they were healthy. I was dead wrong. So i have read alot on this site and have repotted them all and hopefully they will survive.

The multicolor is probably a nutritional deficiency. Mine had that and I corrected it with Cal Mag. The older leaves won't regain proper color though. The spots are probably mechanical damage. You're using well water?

I'm not 100% sure, but that leaf in the first pic looks like cold damage.

It kind of looks like it is a bit watery in the discolored areas.

76 F is fine. Phals don't really like to be grown cold. If this was a wild Phalaenopsis, they generally come from tropical lowland to midland swamp forests in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan. A few Phalaenopsis species come from certain parts of subtropical China. Many of the species used to make hybrids usually come from Malaysia, Indonesia, or the Philippines. The areas where the tropical Phalaenopsis are found do not usually drop below 60 F.

If you have questions regarding Phals, I think the best way to start is to read the sticky, The Phal abuse ends here.

There are multi probable causes for it but we need some more info, as well as some photos of the medium and the visible roots. The plant seems dehydrated and it may be excessive light. Do you grow it on a windowsill? Faced where? North South, etc, etc?

Another important info is how do you water it. From above? By soaking?

I've been growing them in bark and recently reported them in bark. I have them sitting on a plant stand in front of my sliding glass door wich we don't use and the window is faceing west. I also watered from the top but i did notice wrinkles and droop in the leaves so as I read a little in the phal stickey and i soaked it overnight and it looked to have bounced right back. Maybe i should soak them all for a bit? I am definitely going to use the skewer method though. Here are some photos...thank you for your help.

I think those look good. Maybe it's an older leaf you are ready to shed.
