Mini phalaenopsis, not the best roots... semi-hydro? Female
Default

Hey guys. Wanted to ask ya how my set-up is going...

I had the phal sitting in a cup with some slightly damp sphag while I waited on the slotted pot -- just spritzed it lightly on a day where it felt dry and otherwise let it be. I still saw the little red specks whenever I got it damp, but the leaf and active roots are still doing well. For all its problems, it seems to be growing for me.

Got the pot today, and decided to go with packing peanuts with a few little rocks on top to keep the orchid from tipping out, because I am going to keep doing a soap bath once every few days and I wanted something easy to repot. I found a little cup that fits the pot snugly for more stability and a little extra humidity retention, but I have a great deal of air in the pot so I think it should still be breathing well enough.

I did the second soap bath today, washed all the new materials and left them damp when I put them in the pot, and that's all the watering it's had apart from a spritz yesterday.

So right now, here's my set up. Does this look ok?
