Default Rambling out of pots/mounts

What do you guys do when an orchid starts to ramble out of a pot or off a mount?

Do you wait until the rambling part gets long enough and then snip it off the mother plant and put it in another mount/pot?

Do you just snip off rambling parts?

Do you let them be?

I have no one, set solution.

If a plant is potted, I will sometimes redirect the rhizome back into the pot, while at other times, I'll direct it into an adjacent pot of fresh medium, let it get rooted in it, then separate it from the mother plant.

For mounted plants, I simply attach the current mount to a larger one.

I have a Coelogyne that was born to ramble. I took a suggestion made here and repotted it in a huge (12"?), shallow slotted pan, similar to a bulb pan. I have several of these hanging around, I think I got them years ago from Lee Valley.

I had to soak the plant and even then it was touch and go to coerce it into the pan.

It's response? It promptly developed a side growth jutting out perpendicularly from the pan!

If the rhizome is still within the pot borders, I've placed clear plastic sheets/strips (transparency sheets or clear packaging) to block and turn the direction of the growth. I do the same with wandering roots, too.
