dendrobium lindleyi not coming out of dormancy

I have a dendrobium lindleyi (aggregatum) that is not coming out of dormancy. No new root growth, no new PB growth. I think I got the winter rest started too late: here it is March 31, and for the last 6 weeks its had no water at all, for the month prior to that it had water just sparingly. Bright light all this time. Do I continue to wait for action on this plant before I start a watering regime? Or do I start watering now anyway? I'd appreciate some input.

I water my seedling through the winter. I don't think this plant gets a dry winter rest in habitat. It gets dew on some nights, and on those nights it can be soaking wet. Cool temperatures trigger blooming. Long dry rests with warm temperatures are probably not a good idea.

These plants come from a region with a prolonged cool dry rest (and very little dew).

Without the dry rest, mature plants won't bloom. I advocate to stop watering 100% by mid/late October. Do not water till you see flower spikes (in Feb or Mar).

For young plants, I would provide some water throughout the winter. They will then start the next new growth on their own schedule.

thank you both for your remarks......I guess I wasn't clear enough in my question......In reality I have TWO of these dendrobium lindleyi. They BOTH missed out on the winter rest - due to my own inexperience. And therefore, no bloom spikes this spring on either plant. The thing I'm stumped about though is that one of the plants has started a brand new PB a few weeks ago, it's almost 3" long now. I've been watering that one for a few weeks because it had sent out a spray of new roots & then the PB. It's the other plant that I wrote in about just now: it's not doing anything at all. I have no expectation of blooms at this point. But I'm trying to figure out when to re-start the watering regime. Do I keep waiting until I see some action (like roots or PB growth) before watering again - as in BONE DRY? Or do I start treating it like a plant in active growth with regular watering? Or do I just mist/water enough to prevent PB shrivel until I see some new growth action? I hope this makes better sense. Thanks!

These aren't known as den aggravation for nothing. Your experience proves that even 2 kept in same conditions can be different. A friend grows hers' on a windowsill and follows the general advice. It blooms every year. I do the same and mine doesn't. Like yours it has a new growth. As for your other one, I would start watering now. If they haven't spiked by end March, they generally won't. Withholding water now isn't serving any useful purpose.
