IMO, if you don't have roots, fertilizer is the last thing you should worry about. Sort of like picking house paint colors when the kitchen is on fire.
If you haven't already, think about your root problem and possible causes. Need to repot? Change growing medium? Water differently? Improve water quality? Solve that first.
I have a friend that gives his fantastic Cattleyas fertilizer about once or twice a year, if that much. Fertilizer is the least important part of his care routine.
