Mahalo for the reply Steve! I am actually from O`ahu...born and raised. I now live up mauka in Kona. Yea I found some good wood up in Waimea. But next time I'll check out Kaloko

I hadn't thought of boiling it, but then the idea of boiling something for awhile is not too attractive in the tropics

I throw mine in the pond for a week, a little salt is good for the fish and the plants don't seem to mind. The added plus is that the wood gets saturated with nice algae and fish poop laden water.
