The skewer method, I believe there's a detailed explanation of it in the stickies of this subforum. You'll also need to find a way to secure it to a low, wide pot. I don't have any but I'd like to get some rhizome clips for this purpose.

I would rinse the bark, pick out the finer bark and mix that with moss, maybe 2 parts moss, to one part bark. You could add some perlite or chop up some wine corks too. Repot, water throughly, you might want to soak the pot initially. Then after it drains, notice how heavy it is. When the moss gets crunchy and the pot is light, you water throughly again. You are not keeping it constantly wet, you are giving an exchange of air. Others will disagree but, I switched my phals over to this and they are happier than they have ever been.

Ever thought about full water culture? It's what I have all my phals and most of my oncidium types in.

Back to the pot size, I was able to get an 8in Square Rand air cone pot online. I have several huge phal's and these work very well.I even added additional air holes in the interior cone to help with drying out.

I have thought about it because I definitely have a big glass container that I could use.... but this is my favorite orchid . It’s my first one. My daughter got it for me for Mother’s Day 3 years ago and I am nervous to try something new with it.

I do have another one that is getting really big, that one holds no special meaning to me so I could definitely experiment with that one. I just need to do a bit more reading up on water culture

Thanks!

Will look these up, haven’t heard of them. Thank you!

Organic or hydroponic stores also sell large net pots. I have a Phal in an 8 inch net pot. It's only been potted in it for a couple weeks so don't have much of an update on it

Try either of these:

Tindara Orchid Supplies | Fertilizer, Pots, Mounts, Baskets, Tools

Chula Orchids - Clear Plastic Orchid Pots, Decorative Plant Clips, and more!

one of them has a minimum order of $20 (I think)

or you could try taking a look on ebay.
