Seems to be what started as a keiki and turned into a spike.

It probably will grow into a little plant you can separate. Be patient; it can take up to a year sometimes. The roots need to be about 4" / 10cm long total, and it is always better to wait until they're longer, if you can.

I also think it looks like it started as a keiki and decided to be a spike instead. In that case the keiki might not develop any further, only time will tell.

What may happen, in case the keiki survives, is to keep growing even with the spike dried. In that case let it be until it has roots long enough.

Thank you everyone for the info. I will let it be and see what develops.
Such an odd situation, but happy to get a flower or a keike!

One of my Phals did something similar when it bloomed late last summer. It started out looking like a double-thick spike, grew a single leaf less than an inch long, and then from that point out, it was just a regular spike that produced several flowers. When it was their time, the flowers died, but the spike is still green, so I'm curious to see what will become of it.
