Hi Maryanne,

Thank you! I looked forward to it for a long time. I'm sure you are exhausted! That sounds like a ton of work, but it was a great show. This was my third year attending, and it's thanks to this show that I went from owning a few NOID phals to branching out into almost 20 diverse orchids. You had more vendors than I thought you would have, and the selection they brought was great. And the displays were lovely as always. I was there on Saturday, a nice mild day for transporting orchids. Hope it was well attended both days. If I make it to the summer show I'll say hello!

Nice plants! The Anacheilum/Encyclia/Epidendrum/Prosthechea radiata/um should not dry out, but it shouldn't stand in water.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind when watering.

Sounds like you've embarked on a fun journey. Phalaenopsis is a thankful orchid - the flowering and individual blooms are long-lasting, and the plant will forgive a minor mistake or two. But the orchid kingdom has so much more to offer, as you've no doubt found out by now. Looking forward to seeing you show off the diversity of your collection.

Wow! The Enclia looks great! I got one by mail that didn't look so good and I've been thinking of getting a "backup" (ie eventual replacement). Yours looks nice and juicy! I'm really focused more now on buying in person whenever possible which mostly means orchid shows.

The care tips are so helpful. I did a lot of searching on Encyclia radiata and went to AOS and everything I saw said comparable to cattleya with time to dry between watering. It's good to know it shouldn't go completely dry.

So exciting to bring home new plants!

Congrats on the new orchids. They all look very healthy. Good luck.

Yes, I've bought a few by mail that had some issues, even though they came from reputable sources. You can't beat being able to pick out your own plant.

The Amherst Orchid Society has a summer orchid fest in July, too!
