which fungicide to use ??
Default which fungicide to use ??

Hi all.
Could anyone out there in orchid land please recommend a good fungicide thats available in the uk,and advice on how to use one.I am going to try to raise some cattleyas seedlings from a flask and have been advised to use physan or captan to treat them first before planting but cant find either in the uk.
Also as a newbie my collection is growing fast but i dont know where to start with sanitation and hygene.I would expect maybe some sort of trouble with moulds or pests at some point in the future so am curious if there are preventative measures i could use on a regular basis to try and prevent or reduce problems from occurring.
All advice mooocho appreciated.
Kind regards.
Mike.

Hope for the best but plan for the worst

I've had success with neem oil, a natural fungicide. It should be available in the UK. Generally speaking seedlings shouldn't need any spraying and if fungus occurs you're conditions aren't right.

I deflasked cattleya about 6 weeks ago and haven't sprayed them or had the need to.

There is absolutely no reason to apply a fungicide to newly-deflasked seedling.

They are coming out of a sterile environment, and topical fungicides do not impart any resistance.

Why would you treat them?
