Phal Re-pot decision

My question is simple. How do you decide when it is time to re pot a Phal? I have four Phals, two are blooming, two are not. Two of them have never bloomed which has me very confused as to why not when the other two under the same exact conditions have bloomed several times.

Repot when the growing medium has become old and begun to decompose or when the plant has outgrown its pot. Repotting every two or three years is generally considered best practice. Many people, including myself, also repot all new acquisitions. Orchids don't like to have their roots disturbed, so it is best only to repot if there is a compelling reason to do so.

Jscott, do you also repot newly acquired seedlings? I thought this a good idea (in theory and its what i do wiyh almost all newly purchased planta) and I'm just not convinced (in practice, with orchid seedlings).

I have several in sphagnum that I'd love to repot into something more manageable but after my past experiences repotting seedlings, I'm hesitant. I guess it's possible the seedlings I used were poor quality. One did have some sort of rot going on before I got it.

If they're OK now just wait until warm weather. Phals are warm-weather plant.

Supermarket Phals have been pushed to bloom as early as possible. Often they take a year or two off before they flower again.
