Default Micro Dendrobium (oligophyllum)

Is it normal for such a young Dendrobium to bloom? There are only two pseudobulbs.
I hope it doesn't drop the bud, I'd love to see what it looks like (and smells like!)

Sure! There are some Dens that are even smaller when they're blooming size. It's ready!

Wow, do you have any that small?
If anyone has photos of their micro dens (or other genus) plants and/or flowers, I'd love to see them and hear about them
Or just tell me about them if anyone knows of them but doesn't currently own one.

Well, I think my smallest one (not counting the Dockrilia group which has some really teensy ones) is Den. gregula (1) - p-bulbs are about 1/4 - 3/8 inch each. It is just about to bloom (still leafless) Have had it a year, so this is a rebloom. Leaves come along after flowers are done. But Den trantuanii (2) and Den senile (3) also bloom on small plants... I'll come up with some more of my Dendrobiums that bloom on small plants, there are quite a few. Will look around in the morning.

As others have indicated, size does not necessarily indicate age across the board. I have seen oligos about twice as long as yours, but the canes on mine rarely exceed 1". As far as only having two canes ... just means the vendor was making small divisions to maximize his/her profit. A very durable mini.

Den. loddigessii is another mini. For a incredibly mini den, Google Dendrobium cuthbertsonii. Plant stays tiny and has long lasting flowers. Unfortunately for me, it is a cool to cold grower.

OK, mine was blooming when I bought it in early June. How will I know when leaves are falling naturally or if it is underwatered? How should it be potted?
