Dog ate my orchids... help me keep them alive?
So, the title pretty much says it. I had two plants, a Maxillaria and a Catasetum, in temporary trial mounts on my goldfish pond.
Apparently, the lab thought they looked delicious, so he decided to break into the pond and yank them off, pull them out of their pots, and have a bit of a snack.
The Max is nearly gone. One stem and pseudobulb *may* come through but the rest were chewed on. The Cat however looks mostly okay. It looks like he didn't get around to turning that one into a chew toy.
I am at work right now, and I can't do anything for them immediately. I put them inside, in my orchid terrarium, for the humidity to hopefully help preserve any roots that are still alive.
They were most likely sitting outside for a good few hours before I found them this morning.
Anyway, the Cat is the one I'm worried about, as it was rather pricey. Anything I can do, or should I just pot it and hope for the best? It's in dormancy right now which is probably the only reason it didn't get totally destroyed.

Without photos it's difficult to say but, first of all, find a way so that your dog can't come closer to the orchids.

Don't worry, the dog will be fine.
All you can do is clean up the orchids and hope for the best. Normal care; nothing special.

Dogs do sometimes share our love for the orchid hobby. I had to stop putting my orchids outside or anywhere my little mutt could reach them. When she gets them, she shreds them so that there is no hope at all. She is especially fond of the Vanda types but will go for Cattleyas and Dendrobiums, too.

My dogs have excellent taste. They start with the most expensive plants.

...or the most prized and difficult to replace. My little mutt is very, very lucky that I love her so much more than my orchids.

This. This exactly. -.-'
They will have to be inside the house plants now, I guess. Too bad, they were both perfectly suited to my zone.
I didn't know if perhaps root powder or similar would help? Probably not the Catasetum since it's in full dormancy right now. But the Max was still green and growing. ._.
Also, my lab sucks. He literally NEVER goes where I put them. That's why I put them there.

While June is suffering over the orchids, we are mocking about it... now seriously...photo are always extremely useful, especially in cases like these.
Is it possible for you to post some?
