Where to buy Paphiopedilums and Phragmipdeiums?
I am getting back into collecting orchids and would like to know where you are buying Paphiopedilum and Phragmipedium orchids? Many of the local growers have since closed since I last collected orchids (2004). Kind of sad really. Near me was Rod McClellan in So. San Francisco and The Orchid Ranch in Livermore which had 4or there about growers in one area.

Locally, you can drive to Brookside Orchids in San Mateo, The Tiny Jungle in Daly City, and Paph Paradise in the Sacramento area. In two weeks is the Pacific Orchid Expo in San Francisco, so you should be able to get plenty of buying opportunities then.

Unfortunately the POE is the same weekend I am down in Disneyland for my daughter's Nationals Cheer Competition. I'll checkout the other two since I am working in Foster City. Thx

Orchids Limited in Minnesota has great mail order service and has always been at the fore front of Phragmipedium breeding and also strong in Paphs.

I got a couple of really nice paphs from Santa Barbara Orchid Estate. I’m pretty sure they ship.

Indeed they do, and the plants I've gotten (however no Phrags or Paphs) have been first rate. Their ordering process is a bit different than most online vendors, but a quick call to them is all it takes to straighten that out. Also, their shipping is a bit pricey, so I probably wouldn't order "common" stuff readily available from other vendors from them. But you'll never be disappointed opening one of their boxes

Big Leaf Orchids in Texas (Peter Lin), though they specialize in phals, has a modest selection of paphs on their website. Last summer, I bought my very first mail-order orchid from them and was very pleased at both the quality of the plant I received and the extraordinarily careful packaging and shipping. I would buy from them again in a heartbeat.
