Interesting article, Courtney T. Are you actually in Colorado or China as your flag says? Where you live makes a great deal of difference in how you water. We have had many posts and debates on this topic on the OB. If you use the search bar at the top, you will find a plethora of our debates and suggestions. You may find them interesting also. 😉

Hello Dollythehun! Actually today I was debating with myself about changing the location to be "living in Colorado" since I still want to show that I came from China. I know it's very confusing but I just love both places too much! As to the growing environment, my plants have got used to the high altitude, sunny weather (even though I only have north facing window and growing lights), and dry climate that Colorado is famous for!

"Orchids roots are designed to catch water and expend very quickly and prolonged wet feet causes this mechanism to fail, eventually killing the roots."

Were that true, surely water culture, or S/H would be impossible?

Also, why can't you set up a solar still to purify the dam water? Hanging silver chain in the water kills bacteria
too.

Hello, you are just next to me. I also am high and dry. I love the pictures of the orchids in the wild.
