Cattleya psudobulb, how to tell which is oldest?

And you have a new growth there. Perhaps it will bloom. I also have this one and it does grow like a weed as Dollythehun says. Mine how ever doesn't look as good as her's because it was not getting watered enough in Oct so my leaves are a bit limp. My bad.

Idk, Shannon, mine us pretty bleached and now getting purple splotches. I moved it a little lower on the lights. But this us a good one to start with and whetted my taste for more!

I think you should aim for purple splotches with this one. It is Cattleya / Laelia pumila x Cattleya walkeriana. L. pumila is a low-light species, and C. walkeriana a very high-light species. In many ways the plant looks more like a walkeriana. The bleaching might have been from transitioning to high light too quickly.

I'm sure your right. I do have a tendency to sun burn allot of my orchids. Oh well, they are just going to have to live with me

Best to start a new thread. As you observe your plants, you learn about their growth habits (like which way they are growing). Yes, the larger p-bulb is (hopefully) the newest... if the new ones start to get smaller rather than larger, the plant isn't doing well.
