Default do I cutback Brassavola nodosa spike after bloom is spent?

I have a Brassavola nodosa ( I think) and was wondering if I am supposed to cut back the spike after the flowers came and gone?
I have not yet touched the spikes and I noticed one has turned brown looks dead. and another that looks like it is discoloring at the tip like its going to start to die back.
I also have many new spikes emerging in other leaves sheets(?)

Once a B. nodosa spike finishes blooming and starts to die back, you can certainly trim it, since it won't bloom again. However, you can expect new spikes to emerge and bloom - once these plants get going, they can produce flowers for several months, on new spikes.

You can cut it pretty low, just be careful that you don't nip what you don't want to nip. (It is really easy to nail a new spike that might be next to it) There is no rush... those old spikes are not attractive but don't hurt anything if you just leave them. When they are brown and crispy they are easy to snap off and it's obvious what is dead and what isn't. Personally, unless I am planning to display an orchid, I don't rush to cut old spikes. It's too easy to accidentally get a developing one that is nearby. (Learned from hard experience )
