I have 2 phalaenopsis orchids that stay in bloom for over 7 months. Then again I have a mini phal that only stays in bloom for about 6 weeks.

I have repotted a phal from a plastic pot to a woven basket I got at a thrift store. The medium is most bark with a little moss. All of a sudden, all the flowers died at once (like over night) and the spikes are dead as well. Do you think the basket is not aerating enough and suffocating the roots? I had not thought about that as a possibility.

Whenever a Phal gets into trouble I pull it out of the pot and look at the roots. What you describe can be caused by dead roots (usually from overwatering), not enough water or cold room temperatures.
