Let the top dry... what the roots experience is "humid air" which is what most orchids like. The "air" part is really, really important. In nature, most orchids live on the sides of trees - there's frequent rain so the roots get wet, then the rain stops and they dry out somewhat. So they get lots of humidity, but are not soggy.

I don't know if this will work for you, but for my rootless wonders (or those with few surviving roots), I misted heavily every morning and gave them a soaking water weekly. My plants are outside and humidity was low at the time so the leaves were dry within 15 min. The misting regime seemed to halt the pseudobulb wrinkling. I also used the skewer method outlined in the sticky thread to monitor moisture levels to make sure this was a good regime for mine.

If the roots that are still on your plant are not extensive enough to keep it firmly in place, you should stake it or use some other means of securing the plant so that it does not wiggle at all. They don't seem to re-grow their roots as quickly if the plant isn't secure.

So far mine are all doing well in clear plastic pots. I like them because I can see what the roots are doing. I've been using the same side vented type pots I use for my phals.

You've gotten a lot of good advice here Marie, but I seriously urge you to try using Kelp Max. Along with what many are telling you. You will see a marked difference in the condition of your roots very quickly. I can't say enough about it. Type it into the search bar on this board and you'll get much more information on it. Or go to the site where you can get it. It's First Ray's. And Ray happens to be a long-time member of this board.
