The light is likely helping more than you think on cloudy days. It's also, I'm sure, helping to extend the length of light during our short winter days. I'd leave it and just work around it.

That's what I intend to do. Another question: Does anyone know where to get those long stakes that are curved on the end, to mimick a phals arching spike? I can only find them on the phals in grocery stores, and I'm not going to go buy a whole plant just to get that stake! I've searched and searched on line for quite a while now. I have the kind that clip on the outside of a pot, but I think they're ugly. Bright green and metal. I also have bamboo stakes, which are fine...I'd just like to find out where to get those arched stakes. My phals do their own arching well enough...
