Found an orchid on the ground in rough shape. Suggestions for healthy rejuvenation?
I found this giant thing after Huricane Irma. I want to clean it up and mount it. I am thinking I should trim off all the dead looking sticks. What should I do with the shriveled and dead looking parts of the plant?
I guess once im allowed to post pictures I will.

It looks to my like a Laelia or Encyclia which should give some hints about care. The sticks and seed pod can certainly be clipped. The really dead, dry shriveled pseudobulbs can be removed too, but don't be too aggressive. If green (even if leafless) it's very much alive and helping the plant. It looks like it might have been growing on a tree, so putting it on a mount, or another tree, is excellent idea. I will love to see photos when it blooms!

Encyclia was my guess too. What kind I'll leave to the experts. Btw, Welcome imfortney. You'll learn a lot here.

definitely not Laelia. I took a few bulbs off the main piece yesterday and the leaves are not like those.

Does have an Encyclia look to it... whatever it is, should be mighty happy on a new mount. If it were mine, the only p-bulb I'd remove would be that very brown one in front. The rest could very well break new leads to fill in the middle... if not, they'll feed the newest ones while it grows some roots.
