. It looks like some sort of hydroponic or semi hydroponic set up. I'm a little surprised at how fine the medium is. I've read that phalaenopsis do very well and chunky fast-draining bark. Interesting.

I've seen Phal leaves do that when the watering is inconsistent.

I Googled the Lachuza planters, and it seemed to me that they are designed for plants in soil, with the pon material in the bottom for drainage. But then I Googled Lachuza for orchids, and there is was. How long have you had your phals in these planters? Sorry to go on about this, but I'm just surprised the roots aren't suffering from lack of ventilation with a medium so fine...

I remember Lowes was selling some valentine phal orchids and a lot of them had the same growths. So im guessing its not that strange
