Definitely looks like sunburn. That's really typical as the damaged tissue dies and dries out. Unsightly, but localized. Let the plant grow some more leaves, eventually you can cut it off if it bugs you (or it will just drop) but don't rush it... the live part can still contribute to the plant.

Thank you very much Roberta for the re-assurance that it's just sunburn. As I mentioned in my original post, I've had these orchids for many years and haven't had this occur before. Hopefully I can prevent them from getting sunburnt in the future!

As one who has toasted many a leaf (mostly in March and October... abrupt sun angle change is the culprit) I sympathize. No worries, plant will be fine.
