You know you're an orchid addict when....
You go to your first orchid show, spend nearly $200, and sneak in 8 orchids into the house!
I had the best time today at the Maryland orchid show. First I was contemplating not going because my friend cancelled at the last minute, but I'm so glad I went.
Check out the newest 8 members of my orchid family!
Here is the list
Paph lippehill 'in-charm' x Paph Valwin 'xmas robe' am/tps
Paph. (tree of Amanda x Cochise) 'hsiao' x Paph. Hama Chilwin 'in-charm' bt/tps
Dendrobium red emperor 'prince'
Pot creation 'summer choice'
Lc. Mari's Magic 'h + r'
Pot Little toshie 'gold country'
slc best friend 'cathy'
slc best friend 'cleopatra'
Photos below.

Wow great pictures! I should start using my .mac account more often to post pictures as well, it would be so much easier to post pictures instead of having to email them to my self just to resize them (that's the only way I know how to resize on a mac)....great idea!

Hi there, fellow Marylanders! I went on Friday and also dropped nearly $200. The sale plants were gorgeous, so were the displays. I forgot my camera, so THANK YOU for sharing your photos. I especially loved the Little Greenhouse display right at the entry.
I bought 7 orchids, 4 phals, 2 minicatts, and a mini dendrobium (my first dendrobium, hope I do OK).
I'm definitely an addict, and I'm not rich either. Although if I were a better mom, my money would have gone into my daughter's college fund. But hey, everyone needs a hobby, right?

Sheila, I'm sure you'll do just fine with your Den. Any questions, just ask here! And make sure to post pics of your new babies, too! I really enjoy seeing everyone's new additions. Great photos of your new ones, Singingirl! I can't wait to see that Den open!!
As for a college fund, that's one of the reasons I won't move back to the US... My daughter just turned 12, and thinking about University makes me want to stay here where tuition is free (or nearly so - I think full tuition fees have just gone up to around £3,000 per year, and you can get a grant from the government to cover that).

Once you become addicted to orchids, you will never be able to save any money. There will always be that special one that you JUST MUST HAVE. Most of us are already at that point.
Isn't it fun?
