Yes bil. When I water I pour it right through the pot. It drains out very quickly.

If coarse bark alone is used, it takes a long time to become compacted. You should be all right if when watering the water just runs straight thru.

Keeping orchids is pretty simple once you have the basic knowledge. It can be a bit scary until you have the basics straight.

That's for sure. I'm getting it I believe, and of course the second that I think that, something new comes up.

Interesting. Learn something new every day. Read up on them. This is true by strict definition, but it seems like common usage is turning "mushroom" into "kleenex".

Yeah, absolutely. Plus it then makes you sound like a massive pedant when you correct someone.

I used to have shaggy inkcaps grow on my lawn. My neighbour also had them but would walk thru the field behind us every morning to pick the horse mushrooms that grew there. I tried it once, I ended up soaked to the knee with dew, and the horse mushrooms were gritty and full of maggots.
I asked him why he didn't eat the ink caps on his lawn. I even ate a raw one in front of him, but no.

Silly person.

Absolutely. Every time I try a new orchid, or a different problem arises, I am back to being a trembling newbie all over again.
That's why this board exists. You have concerns, you ask on here and people do their best to answer. Gradually your questions will decrease as your knowledge base increases.
