I got a Dendrobium Keithii as a present, the problem is i cannot find good information on this orchid on the web, i would like to know how to care for this dendrobium - i do keep the Dendrobium Phalaenopsis with great success, but im not sure if the Dendrobium Keithii likes the same enviroment or not - any information would be greatly appreciated
Plants should be grown in moderate light with warm to hot temperatures. Keep plant moist and fertilize during growth season. During winter reduce watering until new shoots appear
Hopefully some other members can add more detailed info!
Looking at the culture sheet by Charles and Marge Baker in Orchidwiz for Den. keithii -
Grow it warm - Phalaenosis temps or higher
It wants high humidity. lots of water (can be reduced a bit in winter with slightly lower night temps, but not dried out or cold. 20 deg. C/68 deg F is about as low as it should go if possible)
Grow it mounted or in a basket - it needs to ramble - the biggest difference compared to Den phalaenopis (which offers its own challenge in keeping it moist enough) If in a pot, it needs very fast-draining media.
