Advice for new orchids

I don't experience with epidendrums, but to my uneducated eye, assuming the roots aren't dead, that thing looks pretty vigorous to me.

The oncidium may or may not be a little dry. It looks a little dry to me, but I think the appearance can vary from one hybrid to another with some having natuarly thin, ridged pbulbs and some having more plump, smooth pbulbs.

The zygopetalum (I love that name, it really rolls off of the tongue) definitely seems to be in soil that maybe has perlite or something in it. I would assume (but I haven't personally grown a zygopetalum) that is not the best sort of media.

Zygopetalum orchids should be repotted once every year or two or once the potting medium remains soggy and no longer drains properly or if the orchid is beginning to outgrow the pot. A good potting mixture for Zygopetalum orchids is a mixture of bark, coconut chips, and perlite.

Your plants are healthy. They have just bloomed as I noticed the cut off stems. The Oncidium has a new spike developing. You must master the art of moss watering or you will have root rot. The Zygopetalum has the correct orchid mix and water it when it dries out. You are right, the spots on the leaves are from droplets that the sun dried off. Now that you know how to post pictures, show us the flowers of your Oncidium. Good Luck!

Oncidiums and zigos (especially zigos) are prone to have spots. One of the causes might be overfertilizing.
