Oncidium Irish Mist 'Winter Green' has brown pseudobulbs
Hi,
I'm a fairly new orchid collector and so far I've had pretty good luck with grocery store phaleanopsis. I decided to try an Oncidium Irish Mist 'Wintergreen' from Trader Joe's. They had two, and both had pseudobulbs that looked like this, but I picked the one that appeared to be in better shape.
I know wrinkles on pseudobulbs and wrinkles in leaves often mean dehydration. It's the yellow-brown color of the bulbs that concerns me. I cut the flower spike, and re-potted it in a new pot with fresh media and watered it. I didn't see evidence of snails or slugs deep in the roots, crown or leaf folds. Any ideas as to what the discoloration might indicate?
(I'm not sure why, but the pictures are sideways. Hopefully what I'm talking about is visible).
