Can I pot several different orchids in the same pot?
If I use a large enough pot, keeping the plants' roots in proper medium and other conditions, can I pot a dendrobium in the same pot as a cattleya, and pot several different types of cattleya in the same pot?
However, you can put different separate pots in a larger bowl or basket and drape them in some tillandsia or moss to cover up the spaces between. This will give the effect of several plants in one container but allow you to keep them separated. You will be able to water each one as you think best. You will still have to consider differing light requirements.
Actually, it is possible to do this. I once grew a Bulbophyllum and two Dendrobiums in the same basket. The plants all flowered well in this combo. The Bulbophyllum was Elizabeth Ann 'Buckleberry'. The Dendrobiums were sulawesiense and lawesii.
I would worry about separating the intertwined roots once the plants have grown and need to be divided. Do you think that the plants you are considering will all grow at the same rate?
