So my B little stars decided she wants to grow and stay with me...and get All my attention to herself! Been growing like crazy. Can watch her roots and new growths literally get bigger each day! I hope the upgrades I've made to my grow shelf space will make her even happier!

Instead of being on the third shelf only remotely near a chandelier with grow lights...now she is on the second shelf (I can reach her easier, more at eye level for viewing her and, most of, removes the temptation to have a Second free shelf that might need more orchids to fill it!)😜
And she now has her own 27W CFL, full spectrum, 1700 lumen bulb, suspended directly overhead by a clamp light fixture attached to reptile light stand, which I zip tied down thru the holes of the shelf for stability. (Thanks, Philip for the equipment suggestions!). I have it raised a little over 2ft away for now and will gradually move the lamp closer to my orchid over next week or so (or recommendations for how to gradually increase?). Attached pics show fc readings at bulb, top of plant, base of plant; mind you my meter seems to bounce around a lot and I'm not sure I'm 100% accurate with it yet. But no matter what, it's Obviously much more light than before. Light set to be on for 14 hrs for now.

My gal continues on her seedling heat mat, for root temps at 77* F. Humidity 56-60+. Good airflow in front of shelf and in room from central air and hepa filter circulation. (Room temp 72 day/night; maybe turn mat off at night, for 5*F temp diff, to help with day/night cues?)

What do you guys think?!

(PS, was gunna post pics but got some random security error? Will try to ask an admin and try to post pics later as an edit)

EDIT
Philip, I know you suggested the Prosthechea cochleata, but my B little stars has been doing so well, even without the upgraded lighting, I just felt that she should be my focus. Following the Principles you set out, which ultimately is most useful than a Specific thing only, I think. Only This Orchid. Large bark in plastic orchid pot. Lighting per your suggestions. Not fiddling with it. Not adding to it. (Happy to add additional Lamps, but not Orchids-heh- if needed later).

EDIT/UPDATES

Minor adjustments to grow space. Added small humidity tray. Clamp light exchanged for deep dome reptile refector light. (My bulb hung below the rim of standard reflector and other lights near shelf reflected off the outside of it. Deep dome actually directs More light downward as well, so better that way too. Only downside is costs 4x more than standard reflector.)

Light just below bulb is well over 3,000fc; continuing to slowly lower fixture down to level of light the orchid seems best with.

New growths and roots continue to grow visibly each day. And there are at least Three developing sheaths/spikes on older growths (or at least that's what they look like to me. Am I correct?) So does that mean my girl is now no longer a "seedling", but a "young, near-blooming" size? 🌸

That is a nice set up! Your Little Stars will do just fine!
I think you are smart waiting before you get more orchids. With plants, it is good to know what you really want to collect before spending the money and orchids can be rather expensive. It is better to buy something because you really like it rather than checking a box. If you think your orchid is lonely, you could always buy an herb kit to plant and put under the lights with the orchid.

Thanks, leafmite! I'm just, finally, enjoying an orchid that is doing well. It's really amazing to see all the new roots and growths and sheaths/future spikes growing day by day. Can't wait till she gets actual flowers too.

Things could change, but right now I think I'd be happy with Only her, indefinitely...with the idea of growing a Specimen plant. She has an entire three foot wide, indefinitely tall space to grow into all to herself!!! 🌞
