Can I "fix" this bent Phal leaf? Male
Default Can I "fix" this bent Phal leaf?

I've got a NoID phal that was a gift when some family was visiting. It has a leaf that is bent in half. I'm assuming it was crowded in the nursery that grew it. Can I tie or strap this thing back for a while and it will eventually stay that way? Will it hurt to try assuming I'm not creasing the leaf or anything?

I'm thinking that if I don't try something, when a new leaf sprouts, the new leaf will be bent or stressed by the old leaf so I'd like to take care of it before that happens.

I've got one pic of how it looks and another of how I'd like it to look.

I successfully did this with a Phal. I moved the leaf into the correct position, then leaned a plastic chopstick against it to hold it in place. After a few months it stayed.

It won't effect the new growth either way.

I like this idea. I have a Phal schilleriana that has a leaf growing this way. I will have to try it.

Yes,the chopstick trick has been my go-to for all those wayward leaves. And the light source direction will also influence its posture.
