Thanks, we are amazed at the blooms on this thing. I assume it must be healthier than most that you find in big box stores. I'm guessing that the big nurseries that grow these for other nurseries have tiers of plants, so if you're a BBS you get a "live plant with blooms", and if you're a specialty place or orchid shop, maybe you can pay more for for a "premium, healthy plant with impressive blooms".

If yours are anything like mine, I'm sure they will keep you company while on rotation.

Good luck with them and enjoy!

Just a curiousity... the bullfight poster you have on the wall refers a name: Chibanga. I can't see but probably is Ricardo Chibanga, a former portuguese "toureiro", the first black "toureiro" in the world.
He is still alive and lives 20 kms from here.

You can learn to grow Vandas or Phals in that vase.

Many people grow Oncidiums well in sphagnum moss. They need a lot more water than Cattleyas and Phalaenopsis, and it is better if they don't dry out completely. If the moss is not old and decomposing, and you can keep the nights below about 80 F, you don't need to repot.

You are correct, that's who it is. My parents lived in Rota, Spain for a while and got it while they were there. Unfortunately, it's taken a little bit of a beating over the years.

Both are beautiful! (as is the Vase, I collect too, but Belleek, nothing wrong with it being from Marshall's, still very pretty)

I'm at the point where I'm sitting back and waiting to see how the ones I have do in the culture I have them in, then I'll look at other's, but I sure am taking notes!!!

That's a great idea. I kind of see how a Vanda would work. They seem to just be hanging out anyway, but how would a phal work?

That's good to know. This is that stuff that's packed in there REALLY tight, like a brick. I would assume it would be better if it was much more loosely packed. Would it be a bad idea to stick a little bit of it in with the bark mix when I eventually repot, or maybe use a little as a top layer to help hold some moisture in?

This is my third attempt at responding.😐 I started using repotme.com Imperial Gold Phalanopsis mix for my phals and oncidiums. It contains moss, cork chips, sponge rock, leca, and a little bark. I pot in clay as it breathes. I started this after noticing the mix Hausermann's used in some of their plants. Some of which might surprise us. I'm pleased with the results.

You mean for in the vase? But the vase has no drainage or ventilation holes, so how would that work? THat's my question.

No. For potting your plants. I would never! Use a beautiful vase like that for vase culture... I would use something clear, of course that is my opinion.
