I actually tried watering my oncidium once while it had ants in the media and all the ants cane out. Guess that's what it's actually supposed to do!

But really, I would first uproot them, put them in a plastic pag with water, THEN freeze the whole thing. Make sure the ice is warm enough though

What is WRONG with you people!?!?!?

Submerging and freezing will suffocate the roots. You have to use dry ice.

Ray -- but those have to be small spheres of dry ice, right? You want to get that empty space to allow for airflow.

DeaC -- are you suggesting that this can only be done if you leave for your vacation on a Friday? Or do you mean that you have start thawing them on a Friday.

Hmm, I am not feeling like ice. Maybe liquid nitrogen?

I think I'm going to start a new business, orchidcicle.com.

How do you think I'll do?
Steve we can go into business together. We can also make bromeliad brooms.

I suggest flash freezing... it's a much more economical way to preserve your plant while on vacation. I've had fantastic results!

Or maybe you can just text Darth Vader and ask to barrow the Carbon Freezing Chamber 🤔🤔
