Orchid's New Leaves Broke
Default Orchid's New Leaves Broke

Hello! I had bought this miniature Phaleanopsis orchid a while ago, and it was doing fine until it got knocked over. The new (top two) leaf growths are damaged- the second from the top leaf was about two inches long until it broke, while the newest leaf may completely fall off. Other than those two leaves, the orchid still has three good leaves and two that are starting to wither. What is the next step I should take?Orchid's New Leaves Broke-image-jpg

that's really a shame, but it is something we all do, at one time or another.....it just detracts from the appearance of the plant. it should recover and continue its growth cycle with proper care, and I don't think that its bloom cycle will falter....some people like to dust cinnamon over the broken leaves, I just leave the leaves alone and let nature handle it....go buy another! that's how some of us end up with HUGE collections, lol....its all a learning experience!

and wouldn't you know, I found a baby grasshopper on my phal's blooming stalk tip, munching away last nite! I snatched that booger, flung him to the floor, and smooshed him so fast he didn't have a chance, but not before he ruined the blooms....dang!

VIOLENCE! the best bug eradication method!
