This is such helpful information. Now I don't have to worry about carefully placing my kitchen faucet sprayer so I don't get the crown and leaves wet. So much easier! I'll also use my spray bottle to water my miniatures frequently.

Since reading all of this, I've put my humidifier back on, and I've installed a single T5 fluorescent bulb in the window. I'm very happy with the results. It seems that the t5 gives the orchids an extra 600fc - hopefully that's enough. I made a post earlier about using an aquarium light - I'm glad ES told me to use another source of light.

Here's the final display. Don't mind the globe terrarium, it's a work in progress.

You can use aquarium lights. The problem is, not all of them work well for plants.
