I run the AC all summer. I pot everything in clay because it cools the roots and it's porousity. That being said, I have always potted my oncidium tribe in bark. I have a huge Sharry Baby that could not stay wet enough, I potted her in a bark and moss mix. Then I noticed Hausermans it's much of their stuff in a similar mix. I have been gradually switching over. I know many members are now cringing: More orchids are lost to iverwayering than under. If you use a moss mix you will have to monitor carefully but, it is working for me. My HR is between 50-60% in that area and the temp is 77f.
